Divine Mercy Ministries

Resources to grow closer to Christ - a site consecrated to the Divine Mercy

The History of Divine Mercy Ministries

Divine Mercy Ministries was officially founded by Karla Krautscheid in October 2006.  After returning from college to her home parish and county in 2004, she missed the spiritually enriching activities that she had enjoyed at college, and began to create Catholic materials to be used in her local parishes.

It began with getting women together in the fall of 2004 to talk about putting on a women's retreat for the women in the parishes of Moses Lake, Ephrata, and Quincy.  Several women worked together to put on a retreat about finding joy in our everyday lives in May of 2005.  Another women's retreat was offered in May of 2006 on the Beatitudes.  After creating these materials, Karla created a website to make the materials available to others free of charge.  In 2006, out of devotion to the Divine Mercy, she created the website www.divinemercyministries.com in order to make retreats available to anyone who would like to use them and to distribute additional information about other Catholic resources, including information on the Divine Mercy.  Additionally, information was added about making all-twine knotted rosaries and an online order form for all-twine knotted rosaries was added to distribute rosaries free of charge, as always.

In October and December of 2006, Karla had the opportunity to record several songs that she had written on a CD.  Once recorded, these songs were added online for people to listen to, and an order form was put online to allow people to order a free CD.

Also in October, Divine Mercy Ministries began podcasting with the Wide Awake podcast.  The focus of this podcast was to create a program that would help people remain spiritually awake in today's world.  Thereafter, the Good News podcast was added in an effort to make people more aware of the good things that are happening in this world and to increase their hope.

Towards the end of 2006, Karla felt it was time to make Divine Mercy Ministries an official non-profit business.  Several people were invited to become a part of Divine Mercy Ministries and to have a greater influence over the future of the non-profit.  In February 2007, the first board of directors meeting took place.  The board of Divine Mercy Ministries includes individuals from Ephrata, Quincy/George, Yakima, Kennewick, and Spokane.

Where do we go from here?

Divine Mercy Ministries intends to continue make retreats, rosaries, podcasts, and music available to anyone who wants them.  While maintaining those activities, DMM hopes to continue to expand what it offers to the public.  A board member had a wonderful idea to put up billboards with the Divine Mercy on them - a project we are currently undertaking.  Who knows where God will lead us from here?!  We leave our future in His hands and hope to always do what He wills under obedience from the most holy Catholic Church.

**Note:  Divine Mercy Ministries strives to follow authentic Roman Catholic teachings and will never intentionally create, distribute, or promote anything not in line with Catholic teaching.  If you discover something that is questionable as to its Catholic authenticity on this site, please contact us.
